11 Foodie Finds The Tasty Staff Has Been Absolutely Obsessed With This Month

I'm Claudia, an NYC-based editor on the Tasty team covering all things food, whether it's a viral recipe, the latest food drama, or politicians awkwardly standing in a Steak 'N Shake. We hope you love our recommendations! Some may have been sent as samples, but all were independently selected by our editors. Just FYI, BuzzFeed and its publishing partners may collect a share of sales and/or other compensation from the links on this page. Nissin Cup Noodles just dropped limited-time wing flavors: Garlic Parmesan, Spicy Buffalo with Ranch, and Lemon Pepper, and honestly, they deliver! You microwave them with less water, so the noodles come out extra creamy and coated in sauce. It really gives that “saucy wings” vibe in ramen form. My favorite was the Lemon Pepper — bright, zesty, and super satisfying. Definitely worth trying if you spot them. If you need a fun, savory gift box to send around this season, don't sleep on Matt Rodbard & Zingerman’s Collaboration Gift Box. Zingerman’s — the iconic Ann Arbor–based community of businesses — is continuing its Tastemaker Series with a collaborator whose love for the brand runs deep: Matt Rodbard, writer, podcast host, and founder of the James Beard Award-winning digital food and culture magazine Taste. The Matt Rodbard x Zingerman’s Tastemaker Series Box includes: (Better Than) San Francisco Style Sourdough Bread, Cabot Clothbound Cheddar, Zingerman’s Pimento Cheese, Smoked Whitefish Spread, Finocchiona Salami, and Black Magic and Magic Brownies. Whatever the next level of “obsession” is, it perfectly describes how I feel about this Kelp Chili Crisp from Barnacle Foods! Don’t be thrown off by the kelp (a type of seaweed); you can’t actually taste it, but it adds a deep, sweet umami flavor to the chili crisp. I’ve already gone through three jars, and I put it on everything I can: eggs, rice, chicken, you name it. In a sea of chili crisps, this one is definitely one of the best and most flavorful ones I’ve had. We love spinach artichoke and didn't know it could be improved, but the sharp parmesan mixed with the creamy artichoke takes it to another level! I could definitely see this being enjoyed at a pool party or watching a soccer game this summer. You can find where to get a tub of La Terra Fina near you using their store locator. One of my favorite natural sweeteners to use is agave, so I was excited when Matriarca sent me their Agave Nectar and Hot Agave to try. And I have to say…sweet with a kick is exactly right. As a Mexican, I’ll take a little heat in just about anything, so I turned it into a spicy mocha latte. To make it, mix one teaspoon of Hot Agave (I went with habanero, but chipotle would give you a smokier vibe) with ½ teaspoon of cacao powder, then pour over eight ounces of cold brew and ice. For the cold foam, whisk together one tablespoon of heavy cream, one tablespoon of milk, one teaspoon of Agave Nectar, and ¼ teaspoon of cacao powder until light and foamy. Spoon it over your drink and enjoy. Get the Agave Nectar for $10 and the Hot Habanero Agave for $8. I have tried A LOT of cookie dough in my day and pretty much always have a stash in my freezer when the craving hits. So when I tell you small, women-owned gourmet cookie dough brand Love & Cookies is the real deal, I mean it. I didn't even get a photo of the actual baked cookies because I was too focused on how delicious they were. Each pack comes with eight frozen cookie dough balls (yes, actual balls and not squares, so they don't get wonky when baking). You just pop 'em in the oven for 15 minutes, and you'll be greeted with a chewy, decadent cookie with perfectly crisp edges. Get a pack from Love & Cookies for $10.99 or check local retailers. Having Tastiez in the freezer for a last-minute get-together was a total lifesaver! These frozen snacks go straight into the oven and are ready in minutes. I keep a few on hand, and when my friends randomly decided on a watch party on a Monday, they were the perfect pick. The Mini Italian-Style Mozzarella Sticks, Mexican-Style Street Corn Triangles, and Spicy Buffalo Mac & Cheese Triangles hit all the right spots. A little ranch, a dash of hot sauce, and we were all set. You can find where to get a box of Tastiez near you using their store locator. When an ethical, South Asian-focused spice brand makes a cookbook, you know the food will be nothing short of amazing. But before I dive in, I want to mention that The Diaspora Spice Co. works with family farms in Sri Lanka and India, paying them a premium of three to five times. The authors of the book, Sana Javeri Kadri and Asha Loupy, traveled extensively to gather family heirloom recipes, which they then tested and adapted for this cookbook. I got to try a few recipes from a Pepper Ginger Coffee and Golden Milk Latte to green chutney, hummus, and a delicious Turmeric Banana Snacking Cake. When I say you can taste the beautiful flavors the earth has given us, I truly mean it! Get it from Amazon on sale for $28 (normally $35), or check out Diaspora Spice Co.'s website for a list of bookstores with signed copies. Mexico City is a hotspot for food travel, and Esca is one of those places that instantly feels like a great find. Tucked into the Roma neighborhood, this pebbled-floor Italian restaurant lets seafood take the lead. The cocktails are good, especially the grapefruit gin, which I’d definitely recommend. From there, appetizers like kampachi with jalapeño and grilled broccolini set the tone, but the real standout is the “atún en lata,” aka canned tuna. Soft, buttery, and layered with olive oil and citrus, it’s the kind of bite you’ll wish you ordered twice. If you order pasta, you have to get the crab ravioli in a rich tomato reduction, which was delicious, cappelletti with artichoke and pistachio, on the lighter side but packed a punch, or the paccheri loaded with akami, chu-toro, and shaved smoked bottarga that completely steals the show. If you’re visiting Mexico City, add this spot to your list of must-trys. You can book a table at Esca on OpenTable. If I were served these blindfolded, I would never guess they came from a chain restaurant. Cava's pita chips have always had a chokehold on me, but their new Sumac Sour Cream and Onion flavor?! On another level. Think of them as the best sour cream and onion chips you've ever had (that's probably doing them a disservice, TBH), but taken up a notch with the citrus-y tang of sumac. Seriously, order these next time you're grabbing a Cava work lunch (because I know you are). Order them online or on the Cava app for $3.15. I recently got back from a trip to Mexico and have been on the hunt for the best Mexican food in New York City ever since. While I still haven't had anything that quite compares to the fresh corn tortillas in the Yucatán Peninsula, Oxomoco comes pretty dang close. It's one of the few Mexican restaurants in the city to receive a Michelin star (I've heard anecdotally that it's also the cheapest Michelin-starred restaurant in NYC), serving authentic food with a twist. Everything is served family-style and comes out as soon as it's ready. My recommendation for two people is to get two tostadas and two tacos to share (you can also get the guacamole if you're hungry, but for $21, I think you'd be better off with a third tostada). As a pescatarian, I couldn't share everything with my fiancé, but the Peekytoe Crab Tostada was a major standout — spicy, fresh, and decadent all at once. It paired perfectly with my Guava Mezcal Margarita, which I also highly recommend getting. In fact, get any of their mezcal-based cocktails; it was quite possibly the best mezcal I've ever had in my life. You can book a table at Oxomoco on Resy.
