Celebrities...they’re just like us! (Assuming you’re a virgin or had sex with thousands of people.) I'm an Editorial Director at BuzzFeed who covers the internet’s funniest photos and jokes, weird human history, movie facts, and more. Could she have been asexual? Suffering from a physical illness? Paralyzed by religious anxiety? Maybe to all of the above. It's hard to know the truth at this point. For what it's worth, The Emily Dickinson Museum makes the case, speculative as it may be, that there may have been both men and women in her life that were romantic. In portraits of Elizabeth I, she was often surrounded by virgin imagery and presented almost as a semi-divine figure. In 1559, she told Parliament, “I have already joined myself in marriage to a husband, namely the kingdom of England.” Smart move, Elizabeth! Remaining unmarried allowed her to avoid those pesky foreign entanglements and preserve absolute authority. Sadly, like so many on this list, Negron had serious problems with addiction — especially drugs, but also what he describes as compulsive sex. Sex, he reflects, eventually became meaningless, empty, and tied up with his drug abuse. He went to more than three dozen rehab centers before finally getting sober. So no, Chuck Negron does not belong here because he claimed 1,000 or 10,000 or 20,000 partners. He belongs because his memoir makes clear the number was high enough that the exact math becomes almost irrelevant.
