Actor and host Nick Cannon has let his political views be known, calling the Democratic party “the party of the KKK.” On Friday’s episode of “Nick Cannon’s Big Drive,” Cannon spoke to guest model Amber Rose about her switch to the Republican party. Rose said she was a “liberal Democrat” her whole life but has recently moved away from that party. “Democrats don’t care about Black people,” Rose said. “And they don’t care about people of color, and the Republicans do and that’s the misconception.” Cannon said he agreed with her “100%.” “People don’t know that the Democrats is the party of the KKK,” Cannon said. “People don’t know that the Republicans are the party that freed the slaves.” Yes, Republicans were the party behind freeing the slaves in the 1860s, but that Republican party looks nothing like President Donald Trump’s Republican party. Cannon said he doesn’t subscribe to either party. Rose agreed, saying she voted for Trump because there were only two options, and he was “definitely by far the better option.” Cannon agreed, saying, “I fuck with Trump.” At the Republican National Convention in July 2024, Rose gave a speech, voicing her support for Trump, saying “the media has lied to us” about Trump. “I realized Donald Trump and his supporters don’t care if you’re Black, white, gay or straight. It’s all love,” Rose said at the convention. “And that’s when it hit me: These are my people. This is where I belong.” During Friday’s episode of “Nick Cannon’s Big Drive,” Rose said speaking at the Republican National Convention was a career highlight for her. She said Trump called her personally to ask her to speak at the convention. Rose’s speech was a far cry from her comments in 2016, when she told The Cut that Trump was a “fucking idiot,” adding, “I really hope he’s not president.” Rose and Cannon continued to speak highly of Trump, praising him for making Alice Johnson, a Black woman, the pardon czar, adding that that proves he isn’t racist. In the past, Cannon has come under scrutiny for making antisemitic remarks, leading to his firing from ViacomCBS. Cannon later apologized for his remarks.
