“Late Show” host Stephen Colbert took aim at one of President Donald Trump’s sore spots on Wednesday evening, mocking the administration’s failure to foresee a key consequence of the war in Iran.

Trump likes to portray himself as a successful businessman when, in fact, many of his ventures ― including a casino, steaks and an airline ― have flopped.

Yet somehow, the spike in oil prices ― along with a jump in gas prices at U.S. pumps ― reportedly caught the administration off-guard, according to a Politico report cited by Colbert.

“Somehow, President Businessman didn’t see all this coming,” Colbert cracked, adding in disbelief: “You were surprised that bombing the place the oil comes from makes the oil cost more?”

Trump himself posted about the price jump, calling it a “small price to pay” for the war effort.

“Easy for him to say. He doesn’t pay for his own gas,” Colbert said. “That’s anyone who stands behind him.”
