LA Olympics Chair Casey Wasserman Vanishes From Agency's Name

Casey Wasserman’s risque comments to Ghislaine Maxwell in the files related to Jeffrey Epstein continue to generate fallout. Wasserman’s name was dropped from the talent agency he founded. The company scrapped the original “Wasserman Agency” for a rebrand called “THE TEAM.” Wasserman announced his intention to sell the company last month, saying he had become a distraction. Visitors were directed from the old website to a new website that initially explained the change, The New York Times reported. “As of today, Wasserman is rebranding as The Team,” the company wrote. “For 24 years, this company has been shaped by our work, our people and our unifying belief in the power of Sports, Music and Entertainment. That philosophy remains the foundation of who we are — and where we are going. We go forward as we always have: Together.” In a statement to The Daily Beast, The Team wrote in a statement, “Wasserman is rebranding as THE·TEAM. We remain completely focused on serving our clients with the same professionalism that has always been our standard.” The company appears to be erasing ties to Wasserman as much as possible after bleeding clients such as “Pink Pony Club” singer Chappell Roan, Laufey, Weyes Blood, Best Coast’s Bethany Cosentino, Chelsea Cutler, Water From Your Eyes, Orville Peck, and Beach Bunny on the music side. The agency has reportedly retained Kendrick Lamar; Lorde; and Tyler, the Creator. The New York Times noted it also still represents the likes of Coldplay and Ed Sheeran, plus basketball stars Paige Bueckers and Brittney Griner and LA Dodgers World Series MVP pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Wasserman has been feeling the impact since his suggestive comments in emails to Maxwell appeared in newly released files. Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2022 for a scheme with Epstein to sexually abuse minors. “Where are you, I miss you,” the then-married Wasserman wrote to Maxwell in 2003. “I will be in nyc for 4 days starting april 22... can we book that massage now?” Maxwell responds, saying, “all that rubbing — are you sure you can take it? The thought frankly is leaving me a little breathless.” Wasserman also expressed a desire to see Maxwell in a tight leather outfit. “I deeply regret my correspondence with Ghislaine Maxwell which took place over two decades ago, long before her horrific crimes came to light,” wrote Wasserman, who is not accused of a crime. But Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has called on him to resign his post from LA’s 2028 Olympics organizing committee.
