Donald Trump’s apparent habit of nodding off in public became the butt of jokes on Monday, as Democrats used unofficial National Napping Day to share images of the seemingly dozing president.

“Big day for the Commander-in-Sleep,” the Democratic Party’s official account on X mockingly captioned an image of Trump appearing to doze during a Cabinet meeting.

Former Vice President Kamala Harris’ The Headquarters account also chimed in, posting a picture of Trump leaning back in his seat, hand under his chin and eyes firmly shut, alongside the caption: “Today is National Napping Day.”

Trump, who frequently mocked his predecessor, former President Joe Biden, as “Sleepy Joe” and has lashed out over coverage of his reportedly sagging energy levels, has been photographed on multiple occasions since returning to office appearing to struggle to keep his eyes open during meetings.

In January, CNN medical analyst Dr. Jonathan Reiner, who once served as cardiologist to Vice President Dick Cheney, suggested Trump should undergo a new medical evaluation because of his apparent dozing.

“The president seems to be struggling with excessive daytime somnolence,” said Reiner. “Repeatedly falling asleep with a dozen people surrounding your desk is not normal. It needs to be evaluated.”
