A huge explosion triggered by a fire tore through an industrial unit in Essex on Friday, with more than 100 firefighters sent to tackle the massive fire.

Video posted on social media captured the moment the explosion rattled the surrounding area, with some people seen running from the blaze.

The Essex fire service declared a major incident due to the size of the fire, warning people to stay away from the area and keep doors and windows closed if they live nearby.

In an update on Friday evening, the fire brigade said the blaze was under control and there was no wider risk to the public.
