One product opened my eyes (no pun intended) to the world of super slim mascaras, which I think are game-changers.

The ones I tested over the years ranged from everyday drugstore picks to prestige brands, and despite coming across a few solid options (and having a soft spot for a beloved, nostalgic product you might recognize below), ultimately, these products just weren't as effective for my lash type. 

Maybelline Great Lash: The infamous pink tube was my first-ever mascara and one I stuck to despite its formulation not really working for me. As much as I loved its bright, pink poppy packaging, I realized the formula was too thin, and the lengthening effect was missing.

Benefit They're Real!: This mascara intrigued me from its wand design to its formulation. It's very pigmented, and the wand is made of a rubber material, so interestingly, I felt the formula glided onto my lashes better. But in all, it wasn't able to provide the lift and curl that I needed.

Lancome Monsieur Big Volume Mascara: Out of the western brands I've tried, this one was my favorite for giving my lashes a voluminous lift. However, the wand itself is a bit too chubby for my eyes, and it wasn't easy to reach the inner corner and bottom lashes without smudging.

An Olive Young employee suggested using the product in the shade "Black" as a mascara or as a base, like the "Natural" version, but I prefer the "Natural" shade because the formula glides better, and I like its effect on my lashes more. But for those who don't want to risk missing a coat of primer and accidentally leaving behind phantom ghost lashes, the ''Black" version might be worth checking out!
