This continues to be one of the best shows on Apple TV, which is saying something, given their pretty stacked roster. In the third season of this beloved dystopian series, Juliette (Rebecca Ferguson) survives her forced exile and returns to the silo with memory loss. She soon learns that while she was gone, the silo is recovering from a rebellion and now faces a dangerous new threat. Silo Season 3 also dives into the "Before Times," aka what happened before the silo, as we learn about journalist Helen Drew (Jessica Henwick) and Congressman Daniel Keene (Ashley Zukerman), who uncover a conspiracy theory that pulls them deeper and deeper into a chain of events that have irreversible consequences. 

This season sees the introduction of Laura Innes as Senator Thurman, and as someone who is binge-watching ER for the first time, I am so excited it’s ridiculous. Jessica Brown Findlay also joins the show as Charlotte Keene, and as someone who loves Downton Abbey so deeply, I am jumping for joy. Like, I feel like I made up this casting in a fever dream and it’s actually coming true now. As always, Ferguson leads a stellar season. So much so, it’s such a shame that her performance has been shut out of the big awards conversations because it’s consistently top-tier (and I realize I am saying this as a huge Rebecca Ferguson fan).

We’re now halfway through 2026, so it’s time to talk about the best movies (and shows) of the year so far. One of those for me is Project Hail Mary, which is still sitting as my favorite new movie of the year right now. Based on Andy Weir's novel, Project Hail Mary follows Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling), who is living out many people's worst nightmares. He wakes up with no memory of who or where he is. All he knows? He's the lone survivor aboard a spaceship. What he doesn't remember is that he was sent on a last-chance mission with a group of scientists to help save the Earth. With his memory starting to return, Ryland realizes it's up to him to figure out a seemingly impossible scientific mystery, and he's got to do it all alone. Or does he? 

Soon, he finds himself aided by an alien he dubs Rocky, who has come to save his world from the same fate. I loved this book so much, and I was initially skeptical about whether it could ever be adapted properly into a movie, but directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller knocked it out of the park! Also, Gosling is the perfect actor to make a movie where he’s essentially alone most of the time, so engaging. I have a feeling this will remain one of my favorite movies of 2026 for the rest of the year.

Based on Elin Hilderbrand's bestselling book, The Five-Star Weekend follows Hollis Shaw (Jennifer Garner), a renowned cook and bestselling author, who suffers a devastating loss. Unable to move forward, the sudden death of her husband starts to expose the cracks in Hollis’s picture-perfect life, namely her strained marriage, her complicated relationship with her daughter, and her growing pursuit of validation from her fans. In an effort to overcome her grief, Hollis gets the idea to host a weekend away at her house on Nantucket with three friends from different stages in her life: her childhood, her 20s, her 30s, and one surprise. 

This show is the perfect summer binge-watch. Garner is joined by a perfect ensemble cast, including D’Arcy Carden, Gemma Chan, Regina Hall, Chloë Sevigny, Timothy Olyphant, and more. The picturesque setting and the story are enough to keep you intrigued, even if it’s a little fluffy. I wouldn’t say it’s the best limited series I’ve watched, but if you love Garner as I do, that’s enough to get you to stay for every episode. Also, there’s a reason this book is a bestseller. Hilderbrand always knows how to write a summer read you can’t put down, and that translates to Bekah Brunstetter’s adaptation.

The latest Disney live-action remake, Moana, follows Moana (Catherine Laga'aia), who is chosen by the ocean itself to reunite a mysterious relic with the goddess Te Fiti. Along the way, she finds some unlikely companions, including Maui (Dwayne Johnson), a boisterous demigod. 

What can I say except (do you see what I did there? LOL) this is another Disney live-action remake that didn’t need to happen, but the lead is so cute you want to support them. I still would rather rewatch the animated movie, which I don’t think is old enough to even warrant a remake yet, but this is another live-action movie I’m sure everyone with children will be watching at some point.

There have been a lot of great new TV shows (and TV seasons) this year, but the one that I think I am the most obsessed with is Off Campus. I adored seeing such great new faces on TV with incredible chemistry in a great adaptation. My best friend and I loved Season 1 so much that we’ve been devouring all of the books in the Briar U universe now. My other favorite new TV shows of the year have been Widow’s Bay, The Testaments, and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, all of which recently earned Emmy nominations. All three had me hooked from Episode 1 and included some of my favorite TV performances of the year, too. Particularly from Matthew Rhys, Kate O’Flynn, Chase Infiniti, Peter Claffey, and Dexter Sol Ansell, respectively. 

Now, if we’re talking about the best returning shows of the year, I would say the final season of Hacks was by far my favorite. Talk about a show that stuck the landing so well, anchored by award-worthy performances once again from Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder. I also loved the newest seasons of Shrinking, an underrated gem, and The Pitt, which sent me into a months-long first-time watch of ER.
