President Donald Trump’s latest appearance in the Oval Office on Thursday led to a wave of alarm and concern on social media, sparking new calls for his removal via the 25th Amendment.

Critics on social media highlighted several moments in particular, including one where he suggested he won all 50 states in the presidential election.

“Probably we won all 50 if we had an honest count if you wanna know the truth,” he declared.

Trump won 31 states in 2024.

In another, he said he wanted to build a new path that would connect the Lincoln Memorial to the Potomac River, and insisted “they” want to name it “the Trump Promenade” in his honor.

He didn’t say who “they” are.

And in yet another, Trump appeared to struggle to keep alert, as he has during numerous public appearances since his return, particularly when others are speaking:

Critics sounded the alarm ― and some referenced the 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

That’s a process in which the vice president and a majority of the Cabinet can declare a president unable to perform their duties. The vice president would then become “acting president.”

If the president disputes that decision, Congress would ultimately decide the issue, with a two-thirds vote of the House and Senate required to keep the president out of office.

One lawmaker called the situation a “national security crisis” in a post on X:

Donald Trump fell asleep multiple times in the Oval Office today. AGAIN.That’s why I’ve called for the 25th Amendment, and dozens of my colleagues have done the same. Donald Trump is unwell and must be removed from office. It’s a national security crisis. pic.twitter.com/1lHUUMvncd

The White House fired back at critics accusing the president of nodding off.

“His eyes are literally open in the clip you posted, you dumbass mouth-breathers,” the Rapid Response 47 account posted.

But the critics weren’t convinced:

The President is not well. He can’t stay awake at important White House events and cabinet meetings.@WhiteHouse needs to come clean about why trump takes so many trips to the hospital and why doctors keep giving trump cognitive tests. https://t.co/RVDknOX4ZJ

He should be in a room with padded walls. 25th Amendment.👇 https://t.co/ed4FPh70O3

Who is THEY??? https://t.co/TRNU8KrJaD

Nobody wants to call anything the Trump promenade. Please note - The way this naming thing works is that things are named for you after you die and when Congress designates such naming. Otherwise you can get naming rights on private buildings by large contributions of your own… https://t.co/0IvAsAnLut

What’s the point of him still talking about this? Not only is the claim false also it’s irrelevant, at the same time he’s undermining so many institutions while looking like a mess on TV and going on insane rants on Truth Social https://t.co/l50T7RYCbX

We’re all supposed to pretend this isn’t happening a lot?How does this make us look to the rest of the world? https://t.co/x0BeVsyeBK

“THEY” He is so sick https://t.co/w3H6HuAS5o

Jesus, get over yourself, dude. No, you didn’t. 🙄 https://t.co/6UWeVePc40

A glaring omission from the president’s recent physical examination is any mention of his sleep disorder. This is not normal. https://t.co/87OJjoW2Ae

Pulmonary doc here. Falling asleep like this is very suggestive of a sleep disorder. POTUS needs a sleep study. And POTUS’ doctors need to be honest about the presidents declining health. https://t.co/FJ47ZmMVFM

See…I told you it was a clone. They keep forgetting to charge its battery.

I'm old enough to remember @HillaryClinton's "3am phone call" ad during the 2008 presidential primary season https://t.co/tPQFUbjGfr

Anyone else sleeping on the job would get fired!! 25th amendment! pic.twitter.com/YdheTnbO4I

Utterly fucking deranged. If anyone else said this they would 5150 them to the psych ward. https://t.co/Z2HvdQdzfs

The Commander-in-Sleep clocks in https://t.co/I28i1cnQct
