Love the look but don’t have Black Honey money? This is for you.

It seems much of the Internet agrees, because the hunt for a more affordable replacement is pretty widespread. Shoppers everywhere are trying to find lipsticks and lip balms with a similar smooth texture and flattering berry shade for a fraction of the price. To help out those looking for alternatives, we decided to scour the available options ourselves.

Below, you’ll find 12 tinted lip balms, lip oils, glosses and lipsticks that deliver a similar color and experience to the Black Honey Almost Lipstick for under $25. None of these are a perfect match, of course; Black Honey looks slightly different on every skin tone, making it hard to find a universally identical shade. The texture and sheen may also be different.

Still, we tried to choose lip products that get as close as possible to both the iconic deep berry/“black cherry” shade and the balm-like texture. In fact, some reviewers say these picks even do it better. Curious? Keep scrolling to see which beloved, affordable lippies made the cut.

Like many of the options on this list, Maybelline's Lifter Glaze oil balm puts more focus on hydration than the original Black Honey Almost Lipstick. This one is more of a true balm with a sheer wash of color, versus Clinique's hybrid formula. The Lifter Glaze balm promises up to 24 hours of hydration, thanks to hyaluronic acid, cherry extract and a blend of oils, and can even reduce the appearance of lip lines. Açai Glaze is a deep berry shade.

Promising review: "The Acai Glaze is a great alternative for the iconic Black Honey we all know and love. Though I think Maybelline may have the advantage because this is more pigmented (while still delivering a sheer wash of color) and more moisturizing. And of course, not costing over twenty bucks a pop, lol. This is the perfect balm for those days I want some color and moisture on my lips. I'm a fan." —Kymberlyn A Reed (The Fountain Pen Diva)

We've covered this Black Honey doppelganger before, as it remains a popular choice with 4.3 stars across more than 15,000 Amazon ratings and counting. The E.l.f. Hydrating Core Lip Shine features a heart-shaped center infused with vitamin E so that your lips are getting hydrated and nourished with each swipe. The color payoff is translucent but buildable, similar to Black Honey's sheer wash of color. For a true lookalike, the shade you're looking for is Ecstatic, a deep berry tone.

Promising review: "I had read how people were loving Clinique Black Honey Almost Lipstick and that it was supposed to be a universal color. I'm very picky with lipstick. Sometimes I think it looks good in the dept store but atrocious when I get it home. I thought I'd try this instead since it was under $10. Well, I LOVE IT. It's sheer but there is definitely a color to it. It feels good on my lips (not sticky or goopy). It's incredibly beautiful. Since I've been using it, my face has gotten siginificantly more tan (hello, summer) and it has remained beautiful. This color is a keeper. If you're on the fence, try it." —Mary E.

I don't blame you if you got deja vu looking at this lip balm tube sold by Baisen Diary; I, too, thought this was Clinique's Almost Lipstick at first glance. Much like the Almost Lipstick's own ingredient list, this version is formulated with candelilla wax and vitamin E (tocopheryl acetate) to nourish the lips; the Baisen Diary balm also has beeswax, which the Almost Lipstick does not. Likely because of these emollients, reviewers don't generally view this product as long-wear, similar to what we found with the Almost Lipstick in our testing. Reviewers also say the shade of this one is slightly less red than Black Honey.

Promising review: "I bought this one on a whim but never liked the real Black Honey Almost Lipstick by Clinique, since it tends to run red on me. The Dark Honey version feels more moisturizing and is much more sheer than Clinique’s formula. The shade, in my opinion, is exactly what Black Honey SHOULD be, as it looks more like Black Honey in pictures. For the price, it can’t be beat, so I’m buying more." —HAC

Price-wise, it doesn't get much better than this. And even with the lower price, reviewers are enamored with this Nivea tinted lip balm, which places major emphasis on repairing and smoothing dry lips, with the added side benefit of a sheer tint in a similar deep burgundy hue. (It's also flavored like blackberries.) The balm is packed with vitamin C and E, shea butter and naturally derived oils, delivering non-sticky moisture.

Promising review: "Great black honey alternative—certainly not as long wearing, but nice for use at home or errands or reapplying during the day at work, when you aren’t trying to wear ‘lipstick’." —Midwest Reviewer

I'm a big fan of Burt's Bees no-fuss, moisturizing lip balms, and am a frequent rebuyer. While they make plenty of untinted ones, they also sell tubes in some sheer, buildable shades, like the Red Dahlia shown here. Now, make no mistake — this is obviously not a lipstick, and is much sheerer and a little lighter than Black Honey. Still, it's a nice way to gesture at that berry color with something more wearable for those among us who are a little shy to rock a bolder lip. It's also nice and nourishing, packed with shea butter and beeswax, as well as coconut and sunflower oil.

Promising review: "I saw the price on these and figured it was worth a try. I use Clinique black honey almost lipstick, and this is nearly a perfect match in the red dahlia color. It is a bit glossier than Clinique, and smells and tastes way better. I'll be sticking with this from now on." —Dana Scully

This Merit tinted lip oil is closer in price to the Clinique Almost Lipstick than others on this list, but hear me out: As a lip oil, it's doing a bit more for your lips than just giving you color. The formula contains peptides, a handy anti-aging ingredient that can reduce the appearance of fine lines, as well as smoothing magnolia bark extract and soothing chamomile and calendula extracts. All that for slightly less than the Almost Lipstick's price? Yes please. Since it's an oil, it will look a little glossier than the subtle shine of the Almost Lipstick, which some shoppers may prefer. Opt for Sangria, a deep berry shade, to get that Black Honey-like hue.

As mentioned earlier, the trick with Black Honey is that it looks a little different on everyone, depending on skin tone. That means, while there's no match that will look the same on everyone, there's probably at least one shade out there for each person that could get very close.

Case in point: This high-shine Revlon balm has several people in the reviews claiming that various different shades remind them of Black Honey. These range from Glazed Mauve, a more muted purplish berry, to the pinker Nude Illuminator, the darker, cooler Black Cherry and even Revlon's own iconic shade, Rum Raisin. All this to say, there's almost definitely something out there for you — it may just require knowing your undertones first.

As for the formula, it's more like a gloss-balm hybrid than a lipstick-balm hybrid. It delivers on shine and moisture, containing hyaluronic acid and aloe for a buttery, smoothing feel that isn't sticky like a regular gloss.

E.l.f. is at it again with yet another Black Honey doppelganger, this time from their Sheer Slick hydrating lipstick collection. This doesn't have the heart-shaped center of their Hydrating Core Lip Shine, being more of a true lightweight lipstick than a tinted lip balm, but is still infused with vitamin E. This one gets closer to the Almost Lipstick's hybrid formula between a balm and lipstick, if that's what you like. The shade Black Cherry offers that popular burgundy color with a hint of purple.

Promising review: "Y'all, I can NOT believe what an exact match the e.l.f Black Cherry is to Clinique's Black Honey. The coverage, the sheen, the texture and the color make it impossible to tell the difference between the 2. The only difference is the price. For the price of Black Honey you could get FIVE of the Black Cherries. I love this product! In the photo I have 1 lip done in e.l.f Black Cherry and the other in Clinique Black Honey. Both have between 2 and 3 coats of color. Can YOU tell the difference?" —Stacey Carpenter

Honest's tinted lip balm is another one that's skin care-forward, and definitely on the sheerer end. Still, with 4.3 stars across more than 22,000 Amazon ratings, this balm is beloved for its natural, subtle approach to shine and color. The balm is infused with avocado oil and açai extracts, which are rich in nourishing antioxidants. The shade Plum Drop brings that deep berry that's garnered all those Black Honey comparisons.

Promising review: "The plum drop color is an absolute perfect alternative for the Clinque Black honey...but better. I loved the Black honey lipstick by Clinque, but it never lasted more than 30 minutes on me for some reason. Looked great right when I put it on, but didn't have any staying power. This is the exact opposite. Goes on great, is buildable and stays on!! I've been using Honest make-up remover wipes and absolute love them. So I wanted to see what else the brand had to offer and found this lip balm. I'm beginning to see why this brand has so many positive reviews!!" —Amazon Customer

"I'm a huge fan of the Clinique black honey, but I think Bliss [You] Berry is even better," wrote one reviewer, who described this Covergirl shade as "more of a purple-y, cool toned berry color." With a formula containing hyaluronic acid and pomegranate oil, the balm claims to hydrate lips for up to 24 hours and make lips smoother and healthier. One other benefit? This lip balm contains SPF 15 to protect your lips from the sun, too. Now that's a win-win.

Promising review: "I love this product. I got the shade Bliss You Berry looking for a hint of color similar to Clinique’s Black honey since it’s $25. I like it BETTER than black honey. Super similar color with slightly more pigment. Feels nice and light in the lips, the color is easily buildable, and layers beautifully with other lip products. I love using it with a lip liner for a more pulled together look, or over a thicker lip balm for a sheer hint of color. I bought two more after the initial purchase so I can have a tube everywhere lol. In the photo is one swipe vs multiple" —Rachel

Most of the formulas above are more solid balms, but if you like the application of a squeeze tube (particularly if you want to easily get more product on your lips for a more pigmented, glossier look), Rhode's Peptide Lip Tint comes in a warm berry brown shade called PB&J that's Black Honey-esque. As the name implies, this tint contains peptides for an anti-aging, smoothing and plumping effect, as well as hydrating ingredients like shea butter and vitamin E. This is for the crowd that prefers a multitasking product, and one that's more gloss-like than a true lipstick.

Promising review: "Normally I don’t spend $20 on a lip tint but I love this color it reminds me of Clinique black honey and I would definitely repurchase and I like it’s not too runny or to thick or sticky" —bella1e

I previously reviewed Nyx's Fat Oil Lip Drip lip gloss as one of my favorite drugstore makeup products, but I only recently found out it's now sold in a balmier, solid formula in click-up packaging known as the Fat Oil Slick Click. The texture is creamier than the gloss I know and love, but still delivers on high shine and nourishing ingredients, like avocado, cloudberry and raspberry oils. Wirecutter previously deemed the shade In A Mood a pretty close match for Black Honey on some skin tones, a conclusion some other reviewers also reached.

Promising review: "This is a great dark cherry color - glossy but not sticky. It’s definitely on the thicker side, and as a gloss, you will need to reapply, but the color is a really good alternative for the iconic Black Honey." —BB
