Virginia school bus driver faces charges after alleged student strangulation

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WAVY) — A Virginia school bus driver was arrested Saturday in connection with the strangulation of a student in a school parking lot. On March 30, the Lynchburg Police Department responded to Linkhorne Elementary School, located at 2501 Linkhorne Drive, in reference to a report of a disorderly individual at approximately 4:40 p.m. When officers arrived, they began an investigation that determined a bus driver allegedly assaulted a student on the bus while parked in the school parking lot. Additionally, the Lynchburg Police Department and Lynchburg City Schools discovered the student had been strangled during the encounter. Police said the child is safe and did not suffer life-threatening injuries. Effie Wynn, 73, was arrested April 4 without incident and charged with strangulation and child neglect.
