“The X-Files” star Gillian Anderson has read the pilot of Ryan Coogler’s upcoming reboot of the hit series and said it is “special” and “different,” Entertainment Weekly reported. “We’ve had a few conversations,” Anderson said about Coogler at Awesome Con. “He’s such a cool guy, and so talented. And the pilot script is really good. I would say, have an open mind and give it a chance, because it’s gonna be f**king cool. It really is.” Hulu greenlit a pilot for the sci-fi series reboot in February. In recent weeks, Danielle Deadwyler and Himesh Patel were announced as stars in it. Deadwyler has been featured in the films “Till,” “The Piano Lesson” and “The Harder They Fall.” She also had a widely acclaimed guest appearance in Season 4 of “The Bear.” Patel is known for “Yesterday,” “Station Eleven” and “EastEnders.” “We’re gonna try to make something really great, and really be something for the real ‘X-Files’ fans, and maybe find some new ones,” Coogler said of the reboot last year. “The X-Files” premiered in 1993 on Fox, with Anderson starring as Dana Scully opposite David Duchovny as Fox Mulder, two FBI agents who investigated unsolved cases that seemed to be related to paranormal activity.
