MS NOW Host Mocks Trump Over 'Fake Awards' In Hilarious Bit: 'I Know What You're Thinking'

MS NOW host Jen Psaki made a mockery of President Donald Trump winning yet another newly created award, calling him a “very special boy” on Wednesday over his seeming need to be constantly celebrated. The GOP presented Trump with the first-ever “America First Award” during a fundraising dinner on Wednesday at the National Republican Congressional Committee, with House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) noting they “created a new award” before handing it to Trump. “That’s right, little Mike Johnson and all those Republicans have just created yet another participation trophy to give their very special boy in the White House to make sure he feels good about himself,” Psaki said Wednesday during a sarcasm-laden “Breaking News” segment. “And I know what you’re thinking: ’Did the inaugural FIFA Peace Prize winner really just take home the inaugural America First Award? What are the chances?” she continued. “The same guy who also won the Undisputed Champion of Beautiful Clean Coal award?” “Is that even legal?” she asked. Other pundits, Democratic lawmakers and social media critics skewered Trump and Johnson over the almost comical display of hubris. Even Psaki’s fellow MS NOW hosts had a hard time keeping it together Thursday on “Morning Joe.” Trump’s insatiable desire for awards has been a cause for concern, as he has dedicated much of his time in office to medals or trophies while dismissing weightier issues raised by his own base. He’s spent years complaining about not having won the Nobel Peace Prize, only for last year’s winner, Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado, to present him with hers in October. Two months later, he received the first-ever FIFA Peace Prize. “It’s like the EGOT for insecure man baby presidents,” Psaki said, and while it sounds like a joke, Trump did indeed win a “Beautiful Clean Coal Award” in February. The very concept of “clean coal,” of course, has been derided by critics as fiction. “And look, any other adult in this country would feel completely embarrassed by the patronizing way that Trump is showered with fake awards on a near daily basis,” Psaki said Wednesday. “That’s just how Republicans have to treat this president.” The former White House press secretary noted that “it’s not just the fake awards” keeping Trump happy as voters continue to struggle with affordability issues — members of his cabinet have also been drenching the president in public with some excruciating praise. Psaki said that, ultimately, this is “all you really need to know about the cult of Donald Trump.” By entering your email and clicking Sign Up, you're agreeing to let us send you customized marketing messages about us and our advertising partners.
