I have one of these systems, and we recently got around to installing it (finally). It was sooo much easier to install than I expected. You simply install these bars onto the wall, and the piece slides into place. Each panel is separate, but several are attached to the same bar, so you can't go completely out of the box with the design, but TBH, I don't think you would want that. You can decide whether they are vertical or horizontal and how wide or tall they are. We put ours vertically and just slightly wider than our bed frame, and I love it. I also love that the material is soft and smooth because my cats aren't drawn to it, meaning they don't claw the living hell out of it (which is an impressive feat).

I ~hate~ vacuuming. It is very possibly my least favorite chore, so when it came time to make my wedding registry, this was one of the items I KNEW I needed to include.
