“Late Show” host Stephen Colbert on Thursday mocked President Donald Trump’s unusual pronunciation of “Kentucky” when he spoke at an event there earlier this week. Trump repeatedly called the state “Keen-tucky,” as seen in this clip: Trump: KEENtucky. I love Keentucky pic.twitter.com/WMnY1R6GWe “How can you not know how to pronounce that word?” Colbert asked. “It’s on every one of your chicken buckets.” But it was another moment during the speech that really caught Colbert’s eye. Trump explained why he was keeping up the relentless assault on Iran, saying it was to protect the country from future presidents ― but critics might say his choice of words was really a reference to himself. “We’re not gonna count on having competent presidents,” Trump said. “We have to assume we’re gonna have incompetent ones.” “Oh, he’s so close to getting it,” Colbert said. He broke out his Trump impression to drive the point home. “Look, just for the sake of argument, we have to consider that someday, we might have the dumbest man alive as president,” Colbert said in his Trump voice. “I mean, am I right, Keen-tucky?” See more in the Thursday night “Late Show” monologue: By entering your email and clicking Sign Up, you're agreeing to let us send you customized marketing messages about us and our advertising partners.
