Worcester restaurant O'Connor's Restaurant & Bar will permanently close, according to a posting on the restaurant's social media account and website. On March 9, the restaurant said it was temporarily closing due to damage from burst pipes. But two days later, on March 11, the restaurant announced the end of the line for a business that traces its history more than 35 years. "It is with great regret that we must share that after our recent pipe burst and with rising business costs, O'Connor's will not be reopening its doors," the posting read. "Through many difficult times we've given it our very best to carry on this beloved landmark, but the latest challenges have led us to the end of our journey. "We extend our sincerest gratitude to all of our amazing guests and staff who supported us over the years and made O'Connor's such a special place. We shared so many wonderful memories together, and we are truly thankful for every visit, every meal, and every moment. "From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. We are truly saddened that it has come to this but we wish all of you the very best as we say farewell." Brendan O'Connor, originally from Ireland, opened the restaurant in 1989. In 2022, it was sold to the Maxwell family, who committed to keeping the name. The restaurant, located on West Boylston Street, closed down for several days in April 2025, except for large parties and private functions, saying that it was "a bit short on hands." It reopened on May 1. This article originally appeared on Telegram & Gazette: O'Connor's Restaurant & Bar in Worcester closing permanently
