Stephen Colbert Reveals Trump's 'Giant Clown' Moment In The Oval Office

“Late Show” host Stephen Colbert on Tuesday clowned President Donald Trump over a new report that he’s been buying shoes for those in his inner circle. “You know, there’s a word for a leader selecting clothing for his disciples,” Colbert pointed out. “It’s ‘cult.’” The Wall Street Journal reported this week that Trump has been guessing people’s shoe sizes, then sending them shoes ― and those who receive the shoes feel obliged to wear them regardless of whether they fit. One source cited by the Journal said: “It’s hysterical because everybody’s afraid not to wear them.” “Hysterical,” Colbert repeated. “Just like that classic joke: Knock, knock. Who’s there? It’s the man who checks the shoes. I see you’re not wearing them. Get in the van.” The new footwear in the wrong size has led to some awkward White House photo ops, with Colbert highlighting one in particular showing Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio in shoes that look far too big: “Take a look at JD Vance and Marco Rubio’s itty bitty ankles drowning in their giant clown shoes,” Colbert said. Colbert said Rubio looks like a kid trying on his father’s shoes “to pretend to be secretary of big boys.” He also called out members of Team Trump by name for wearing the shoes. “The folks seen wearing Trump’s mandatory man-shoe include JD Vance, Marco Rubio, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, Sean Hannity, and Sen. Lindsey Graham,” Colbert said, “Or, as they’re collectively known, Trump’s wet little shoe cucks.” See more in his Tuesday night monologue: By entering your email and clicking Sign Up, you're agreeing to let us send you customized marketing messages about us and our advertising partners.
