Actor Corey Feldman has announced that he was not invited to participate in a special tribute at the Oscars honoring the late filmmaker Rob Reiner, who directed him in the 1986 film “Stand By Me.” “I JUST WANT 2 BRIEFLY MENTION THIS WHOLE OSCARS THING! YES ITS TRUE THAT I WAS NOT INVITED,” Feldman wrote on X last Friday. “I UNDERSTAND MANY BELIEVE ITS DUE 2 BEING OUTSPOKEN ABOUT THE ABUSE I SUFFERED AS A CHILD & THE CAMPAIGN 2 SILENCE ME. HOWEVER THIS ISNT ABOUT ME! ITS NOT MY MOMENT @ ALL! ITS ABOUT THE TRAGIC LOSS OF R FRIEND ROB REINER & HIS MEMORY. ” Reiner and his wife, producer Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead in their home in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles on December 14, 2025. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner later reported that the couple died from “multiple sharp force injuries.” Their son, Nick Reiner, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the fatal stabbings of his parents. He pleaded not guilty in February. Last week, Variety reported that Reiner’s “When Harry Met Sally” stars, Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan, will reunite during the Oscars’ In Memoriam segment to honor Reiner along with other actors who have appeared in the late filmmaker’s movies. According to The Daily Mail, Feldman was “devastated” not to be tapped to participate in the tribute to Reiner at the Academy Awards ceremony on Sunday at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Entertainment Weekly later confirmed the report, citing a close source familiar with the matter. Feldman also urged his supporters to stop pushing for him to be included in the tribute. “AS MUCH I APPRECIATE ALL SUPPORT, ITS VERY SWEET OF U…..BUT PLEASE STOP. PLEASE TAKE DOWN ANY PETITIONS 2 PUSH 4 MY PRESENCE @ THE AWARDS,” he wrote on X. In addition, Feldman alluded that his “Stand By Me” co-stars, Jerry O’Connell and Wil Wheaton, had been invited to participate in the tribute. “THEY DONT NEED ME THERE, WILL & JERRY GOT THIS IM SURE, THEY WILL DO A FANTASTIC JOB!…ILL HONOR ROB MY OWN WAY. [prayer hands emoji]” he wrote. The Academy and reps for Feldman, Wheaton and O’Connell didn’t immediately respond to HuffPost’s request for comment.
