Former New York Yankee Mark Teixeira won a Republican House primary in Texas on Tuesday, pledging to drive home his Donald Trump-loving policies to victory in November. Teixeira, a member of New York’s last World Series-winning team in 2009, hit 409 homers from 2003 to 2016 for several teams in the majors. He collected 39 home runs and 122 RBIs in the Bronx championship season. But on Tuesday, he was enjoying a political triumph in a very conservative district: “This is a huge victory, and I’m truly honored to have such strong support from the people of TX-21. Thank you! I’m so grateful to everyone who voted, put in the work, donated, and especially prayed for us along the way. My amazing family has been by my side every step of the way – my wonderful wife Leigh and our three kids – and I’m blessed by their support as I prepare to serve the country we love. We’re going to run a strong race and win big in November, then hit the ground running to fight for Texas families.” An ad Teixeira shared on election day summed up his embrace of Trump’s immigration crackdown and opposition to trans athletes in sports and gun reform. “I’ll never let ’em take our guns,” said Teixeira, who invested $2.5 million of his own money into the campaign. One of my top priorities in Congress will be to keep our families safe. I stand with ICE. https://t.co/SRDX4UUH15 Teixeira, who pledged to end “radical woke indoctrination” in announcing his candidacy, will face Democrat Kristin Hook in November’s general election.
