According to a March 2 press release, SkinnyPop is voluntarily removing its new White Cheddar Popcorn from store shelves over concerns that it may be confusing or misleading for those with certain allergies.

The Hershey Company-owned brand recently launched the popcorn, which contains dairy, but is now pulling the product from shelves over allergen concerns.

In the press release, the company stated, "The decision to remove the product is out of an abundance of caution because the dairy-containing and dairy-free White Cheddar Popcorn varieties have similar packaging that could contribute to confusion at retail or at home."

SkinnyPop White Cheddar has an accurate ingredients list and the appropriate allergen warnings, however, there is a concern that the packaging's similarity to a dairy-free SkinnyPop variety may result in those with allergies or sensitivities mistakenly purchasing or consuming the popcorn.

If you already purchased the White Cheddar Popcorn and do not have a milk allergy or sensitivity, the popcorn is safe to consume. However, those with milk allergies who accidentally or inadvertently purchased the dairy-containing SkinnyPop White Cheddar Popcorn should not consume it.
